  • It's somewhat early in the day for a post, since nothing has really happened to me, but I read this article, and decided that I could delay putting up a post about Tigger.  However, I will address that he is not as fat as he looks in the first picture form the previous post.  He is just scrunching up, and deciding whether or not he should run from me.

I was crusing one of my favorite news sources, Drudge Report, when I came across this headline:

Now scientists create a sheep that's 15% human.

Science doesn't normally freak me out in the slightest.  I read a lot of stuff, and feel pretty ok with it.  There was the whole thing about creating miniature black-holes on earth, and the whole scare about one of them destroying the planet.  I sort of shrugged at that.  I mean, if it happens, I can only assume that the death wouldn't be all that painful.

However, this article, combined with this picture:

may jeopardize future sleep.  I rate this one right up there with zombies.  I mean, you think "sheep are fine".  I wonder what things will be like when there's a 6-foot tall version, with those ugly-ass eyes looking down at you.  Right before it kills you.

A quick thing on the zombies.  I'm not afraid of zombies.  Just afraid that I won't have enough ammunition.  This is also my fear in thoughts of world collapse, natural disaster which causes an "everyone for themselves" scenario (Katrina), general anarchy, etc.  I entirely welcome the idea of a Right-makes-right world, simply because I believe that I could survive pretty well.  I'm a large fan of Darwinism, and I believe the world today actively attempts to short-circuit it.

In anycase, As soon as I leave Italy (the country that has a gun factory, but refuses to let anyone own a gun) I will be starting a small armory, by purchasing this:

    It's 7.62 (.308 for you civvies.).

    And this:

it's 5.7x28mm, and not armor piercing.

then this (or maybe this before the other one):

This is also on the list, due to high paranoia:

    Black 6, out.

  • Hello,  Okay all I want to know is why?  create a sheep that is part human.  I sad;u know people that kinda makes me wonder if they are human.  I did not know you can not own a gun in Italy.  I am trying to decide on a new hand gun but still "looking".  Take care and will be looking forward to your Pooh post.  By the way I knew Pooh was not fat, so that means the Kit Kat were hmmm??? yours?

  • Now, I'm afraid of sheep and you.

  • The HS Precision HTR's are real nice rifles. Go for it. Super smooth. Worth the extra $$$.

  • Home Defense... HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Pretty wild, huh?

The XD's are doing great. I'd suggest it waaaaaaaay before a 5.7, especially if you're not a collector yet.

BTW, Bushmaster has their AR10 variant. Big difference is that it accepts FN FAL magazines, which are very very cheap and common. GO with that over the POF lower reciever, and buy the POF upper if you really want a piston operated rifle. (I don't know if they're 100% compatible, I haven't worked with many AR10's).

  • Hah. The Scotish have been trying to make man-sheep for years. ;)

ryc: Thanks for the link - hilarious. I forget who gave it to me before, but I've seen that before...

  • Are you saying that if you were hit by Katrina, you would've killed people?

  • Not in such a basic way. However, defense of property, and the ability to protect others from a mob, as well as the ability to form a group in order to survive a crisis usually gravitates around individuals who ar able to provide the basic needs for the others. The desire to group is a trait of individuals. During Katrina, we saw everything fro groups of adults, to packs of dogs, and even that group of children that was basically led by a 5-year old. The purpose of the firearm is not to walk around and kill, but to walk around and not be killed.

Granted, there are individuals who would do the former. A second piece to this is that you can't simply have resources and hope to move in that type of scenario without adding strength to your group. Otherwise, it's you against the mob, and once you're out of the picture, the mob will turn in on itself for whatever you had.

Firearms can also act as a tool, being used to breach doors and locks (such as to a supermarket), ward off / kill wild animals (who may become dangerous due to their need to survive, break glass, etc.

The big picture is that, in an area of limited resources, if you have, and other don't, they will want to take it from you, especially if it means that they survive. It doesn't even have to be a crisis. I managed money for the Brigade, and I've watched units fight each other for funding, and stab each other in the back. And they're basically on the same team. Now, when you have more than enough resources, it's easy to form a group. However when you're in as bad of a situation as them, with just enough resources to survive, and it's you or them, having a rifle makes it a little easier.
